Life is full of ups and downs, a complex mixture of simultaneous happy and sad experiences. Sometimes even experiences that feel overwhelming and test our resiliency. I believe we are stronger when we go through it together and reach out to broaden our skills and perspectives. This can help us remember to have self-compassion and nurture the relationship with ourselves. My desire is to offer a safe space and time for those who choose to explore what life has brought to the table! As we know healing, connecting, and thriving that can be born from it.
I am a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner which has allowed me to widened my understanding of how, in addition to connection with others, our well being requires knowing the needs of the body. The body communicates to us and provides attunement and mindfulness of our own needs and the needs of others, which is pivotal! I have also taken a unique interest in the life of the couple or marital relationship as it makes room for children in the home, as it adjusts over the course of time to the changing demands and desires between partners. I’ve focused in on the factors that make a difference between the couples that thrive and the ones who struggle. I enjoy using the Sound Relationship House Theory from John Gottman to work with couples who are seeking reconnection or healing.
For those searching for deeper personal growth and self-awareness;
Something that deeply speaks to me is this quote by Frank A. Clark- “A baby is born with a need to be loved, and never outgrows it.” At the heart, we want to be safe, understood, and given the freedom to be ourselves.
Hi- my name is Sarah Branch. My path into marriage and family therapy was an easy and natural journey because of the endless curiosity I have to explore the human capacity for healing, connecting, and thriving in the face of adversity. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Texas, where I was happily born, raised, and remain today. This career provides a unique opportunity to meet others on their personal journey toward growth and healing. I find that we end up learning from each other’s wisdom as a result of the work we do together!
Since graduating from Abilene Christian University with my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2008, I have specialized in the area of infant and early childhood mental health, which is best approached through promoting healthy relationships, healthy bodies, and healthy environments. I became a Program Director of a children’s mental health program that seeks to catch potential challenges or traumas early and to help families find healthier trajectories. I have found that foundationaly, the principles that apply to what makes a child thrive, also apply to people of all ages and stages.
